The purpose of the Public Health Team is to be the strategic lead for the CVS on public service commissioning, with its particular focus being NHS Barking and Dagenham.
In order to achieve this, the Public Health Team will:
There are three components to the project, these are:

(1) Public Health Network
The aim of the Public Health Network is to bring together everyone from all sections of the community in Barking & Dagenham - residents, health practitioners, statutory agencies, voluntary & community organisations, businesses and schools & colleges - to tackle health issues, challenge unhealthy beliefs, change bad health practices and promote healthier lifestyles.

We will be using the Engagement process to involve the many diverse communities within the borough, enabling them to focus on improving their health and well-being. Groups and individuals will be informed of events, forums and training that have a public health focus to encourage participation.
We will also ensure that information about health issues is delivered to residents within the borough encouraging them to become active participants to the health agenda.
By engaging communities and working at neighbourhood level, we aim to reduce health inequalities that currently exist within Barking & Dagenham. We will also make sure that people working or living in the borough are fully aware of the public health services that are available to them and where to access information and support.
