Aims and Objectives of the Public Health Network Board

The purpose of the Board is to ensure that high quality, Public Health services are delivered throughout the borough in line with the needs of the Barking and Dagenham community. The PHN Board comprises of a mix of NHS, LBBD, Voluntary Sector, one Health Champion from each of subject area and individual representatives. The core elements of the Board are to have a planning, strategic and organisation role, meeting regularly. Membership of voluntary, but comes with the full support of the Public Health Network Officer.

The aims of the Board are to:

  1. Improve the Public Health of Barking & Dagenham residents, in line with local health priorities.

  2. Ensure that Public Health services delivered from localities are integrated and preventative in focus and easily accessible to all in the community;

  3. Set the strategic direction for Public Health services through the Public Health Network

  4. Ensure co-ordination of services delivered by partner agencies;

  5. Act as a forum for driving successful partnership working;

  6. Monitor, review and evaluate progress against agreed actions;

  7. Work with partners to build capacity for early identification and intervention

  8. Receive and act on feedback from partner agencies;

  9. Assess the level of need and the impact of provision for the Barking and Dagenham Community.
