What is ChangeUp?

ChangeUp is a government funded programme, aimed at supporting the development of the voluntary and community sector over the next ten years. Operating at a national, regional and local level ChangeUp aims to ensure:

“that by 2014 the needs of frontline voluntary and community organisations will be met by support which is available nationwide, structured for maximum efficiency, offering excellent provision which is accessible to all while reflecting and promoting diversity, and is sustainably funded.”

Barking & Dagenham is undergoing massive change and development at present and ChangeUp has therefore presented the VCS with the opportunity to sets its own direction and have access to support that enables voluntary and community organisations to achieve their potential.

What does it mean for you?

• More co-ordinated support services for voluntary and community organisations to access better and co-ordinated information about what support is available and from whom.
• Gaps in support needed by the sector will be filled and duplication of support services will be reduced.
• The support offered by the infrastructure organisations will be tailored to meet the needs of the sector.
• ChangeUp Barking & Dagenham will provide a channel through which the sector can have a stronger voice.
