Avenues Trust for Older People Grants

Late last year, our trustee, Denis Riley, secured the transfer of assets from the Avenues Trust to BDCVS.

The interest from the fund is ring-fenced. It is for older people, and work with older people, in Barking & Dagenham and Havering (Romford only).

Given the current focus on loneliness and older people, BDCVS is piloting a new grants programme for older residents. We will pilot a second grant programme for organisations working with older people later in the year.

Up to 18 grants of between £100 and £300 are available. These are to help older people over the age of 65 who find themselves in debt.

Applications must be supported by a statutory or voluntary organisation that commits to supporting the individual beyond the grant. Support must given for at least six months after the grant. The support must include: money-management, combatting social isolation, and dealing with loneliness.

Closing date: Monday 12 February 2018 (5pm)
